Flu Campaign 2021
Email received 3rd September 2021 at the surgery: Seqirus who manufacture the flu vaccine suitable for patients over the age of 65, have hit some “unforeseen freight challenges” and will now not be able to meet targets for delivery of the vaccine around the country. This is a national problem, not just affecting our surgery. We are expecting further news in the next week or so to give us a revised delivery schedule, but it is likely to delay receipt of the vaccine until end of September/early October. We also still do not have any information on delivery of any covid vaccinations either. We will update our patients as soon as we possibly can.
We will be releasing appointments for this year’s flu campaign as soon as we know delivery dates are confirmed. Please keep an eye out for posters/notifications at the surgery/online.
We will be offering the vaccine to our At-Risk groups in the first instance and the order of priority will follow last year:-
If you are over 65 years of age or under 65 with an underlying health condition such as diabetes, asthma/COPD, heart/kidney disease, if you are immunosuppressed, pregnant or a carer for anyone with any of these conditions, you may have a vaccine.
We have not yet received guidance regarding the concommitant administration of the covid booster vaccine, so it may be that you will be offered separate appointments for flu and covid boosters. We will let our patients know as soon as we can.
