Childhood Immunisations

Important information for Parents of Children under the age of 5 years
The invitations for your child’s vaccinations come via a central Childhood Immunisation Team. They will alert you to your child being due for a vaccination, for example, MMR, preschool booster etc.
The childhood immunisation team are stipulating quite vociferously now that immunisations cannot, under any circumstances, be given earlier than they are due – even where this might be one or two days before the ‘due date’.

So, if your child is due to have a preschool booster, this cannot be given until your child reaches at the very earliest 3 years and 4 months of age – and it should be given before your child reaches the age of 5. And bear in mind, the date of 3 yrs and 4 months, is exactly 3 yrs and 4 months, not 3 yrs, 3 months, 29 days!!

The nurse will check the dates when you arrive, but bear in mind, if the appointment is early, we will have no alternative but to rebook the appointment. We know that this will be a huge inconvenience, but our hands are tied and this is a direct instruction from the Childhood Immunisation Team. We are grateful to you for your co-operation. For a complete list of immunisations offered to children under the age of 15, please see our leaflet.
