Dr William R G Hynds - MA MB BChir MRCGP DCH DRCOG

Will trained at Cambridge, qualifying in 1993. He has worked extensively as a locum doctor all over Cornwall before moving to Australia to sample General Practice outside the NHS.

He returned to the UK in 2007 and joined the Roseland Surgeries in May 2008. Child health, contraceptive services, minor surgery and musculoskeletal medicine are amongst his special interests but he remains keen to be seen as a generalist; is also an accredited GP trainer and a cabinet member of the Cornwall LMC. He is married to Terese and they have two young children.

Dr Terese M Tubman - BMed MRCGP DFFP

Terese trained at Newcastle University, Australia, qualifying in 1995. She completed her training in General Practice on the Roseland under Dr Campbell’s mentorship in 2001. (Dr Campbell has since retired).

Since then she has worked as a GP in Cornwall and Australia and joined the practice in 2010. She enjoys all areas of General Practice with particular interests in women’s health, mental health, nutrition and complementary therapies. Dr Tubman runs our Child Health Clinics and Family Planning.

Terese represents the practice at the Kernow Clinical Commissioning Group, and is on the Clinical Board of the Referral Management Service (RMS). She is also a Director of Kernow Health Community Interest Company (CIC). She is married to Will and they have two young children.

Dr Jonathan T Jacoby BSc(Hons) MBBCh MRCGP

After gaining a degree in biochemistry, Jon went to medical school in Cardiff, qualifying in 2005. He worked in various hospitals in Wales before getting a place on the GP Training Scheme in Cornwall. Following a year with the surgery as the GP Registrar, he joined the partnership in October 2011.

His clinical interests include the management of chronic cardiovascular and respiratory diseases as well as diabetes and ENT. He is the practice lead for medical student education, research and prescribing.

When he is not working in the practice, he is an appraiser for other Cornish GPs, helping them to meet the requirements for revalidation. He is married to Jenny with two young children.

Dr Mark Stephen - MB BCh

Dr Stephen has joined the practice covering 4 sessions a week at Portscatho and St Mawes’ Surgeries.

Dr Stephen will cover St Mawes and Portscatho as Dr Crouse used to do. He qualified in Manchester in 1994 and has interests in minor surgery, cardiology and musculoskeletal medicine. Outside of work he spends time with his two children and enjoys playing golf, kitesurfing and sailing.

Practice Nursing Team

Sue Found

Sue qualified as a nurse in Lancashire in 1987, initially working in Care of the Elderly and as a Community Nurse.

She started practice nursing in 1991 and joined the Roseland surgeries in 1997. Her special interest areas are in health promotion (in particular smoking cessation), in diabetic care and childhood immunisation.

She has also completed respiratory,cardiac and family planning courses.

Jessica Lord

Jess qualified in 2012, training at Bristol UWE. She started her career working in Oncology then moved on to Cardiology where she stayed for 3 years.

She joined the Roseland Surgeries in 2016, completing her degree module in Clinical Skills for General Practice in 2017 and asthma/COPD degree module in 2018. She is now working towards her BSc in Professional Development within Health & Social Care.

Ciara Moore

Ciara qualified as a nurse in 2003 and began her career on a General Surgical Ward in Hemel Hempstead. She moved to the South West in 2005 and worked in inpatient oncology care. After a career break, she completed the Return to Practice Course at Plymouth University in 2017. She joined us in October 2018 and is currently completing a degree module on Clinical Practice in General Practice at Plymouth University.

Ciara is married to a local GP and has two children.

Lesley Hansford

Lesley trained as a HCA Level III in 1990. She has previously worked in Buckinghamshire and Wiltshire for 28 years. She has worked for the British Red Cross, Ridgeway Hospital, on the District Nursing Team in Wiltshire and for Marie Curie palliative care. She has an interest in holistic care with a special interest in venepuncture and hypertension management.

Lesley originally joined the surgery in 2010 as a phlebotomist but changed this role last year.

Other Staff at Roseland Surgeries

Nicola Davies - Practice Manager

Nicola joined the surgery at the beginning of May 2015. She has 35 years’ experience in Primary Care, the last 20 in Practice Management, and previously worked as a Practice Manager in Gloucestershire. Nicola also has an MA in Medical Law and Ethics and is also a Speaker for a training company, providing help and support for new-in-post receptionists and Practice Managers. Nicola is responsible for the general running of the three practices, looking after clinicians, patients and staff. If you need to discuss any of the care you receive at any of our surgeries with her, please contact her directly at her base at Portscatho Surgery. Nicola is supported by her Assistant Manager, Samantha Burnett.

Secretarial Support

We are ably supported behind the scenes by our secretary, Kathy Vokes. We also have admin support from Kelly Crewes and Christine Toms.

Dispensary Staff

Our dispensing staff are always busy trying to sort out your medication requests. The team comprises Rebecca Gibbons (Dispensary Supervisor), Eve Poore, Selina Milling, Mary Symons, Mary Clifton and Samantha Davis. We require three working days’ notice for repeat medication requests with a slightly longer turnaround for our branch sites – this is to enable us to not only prepare the medication, but organise delivery to the branch sites. Please do allow a couple of extra days if you need to collect your medication from either Tregony or St Mawes.

Reception Staff

Front of house manning the phones and directing the doctors – our team comprises Jane Pinkney, Selina Milling, Mary Clifton, Kelly Crewes, Su Berry, Mary Symons, Samantha Davis, Christine Toms and James Tregunna.

We will always do our best to accommodate your wishes if at all possible.

Suzy Hamilton - Physiotherapy

Suzy Hamilton has been working at the practice since 2006. She runs clinics at Portscatho on 2 days a week when she assesses and treats a large range of musculoskeletal conditions. A referral from one of the practice doctors is required before an appointment can be made.

Community Nursing Team

Our district nurses are not employed by the practice but their services are crucial for the patients who cannot make it in to the surgery and they are essential team members. They are based in Tregony but can be contacted through Portscatho reception (01872 580345). We are also supported by our Community Matron, Andrea Trewhela, who looks after the chronic disease management of our more infirm patients in the community.

Drugs and Alcohol Support and Counsellors

Our drug and alcohol support is provided by Addaction counsellors ( They can be accessed through direct referral from one of our GP’s or Addaction can be directly contacted on 01579 340616.

Counsellors are available via Outlook Southwest. Should you feel that you need the help and support of a counsellor, please come and see one of the doctors in the first instance.

Family Health Worker

Our Family Health Worker covering the Health Visitor’s clinics is Jo Frost. As a routine all mums will have an antenatal and postnatal visit from her. In addition she runs a drop in clinic with assistance from the nursery nurses for any concerns in the 0-5yr age group at Portscatho. She can be contacted on 01872 323055.


Julie Wheatley is the designated midwife for the Roseland and Probus area. She can be contacted through the surgery reception on 01872 580345.
